🚨 Severity: HIGH
💡 Vulnerability: Rate limiting was disabled (commented out), leaving the API exposed to brute-force and DoS attacks. Additionally, `@fastify/jwt` version was incompatible with Fastify v4, preventing the application from starting.
🎯 Impact: Unrestricted API access could lead to service degradation or account compromise.
🔧 Fix:
- Enabled `rateLimit` middleware in `backend/src/app.ts`.
- Updated `error.middleware.ts` to correctly handle `429` errors from the rate limiter.
- Downgraded `@fastify/jwt` to `^8.0.0` to resolve incompatibility.
- Added `backend/src/__tests__/rate_limit.test.ts` with full test setup (`jest.config.js`, `jest.setup.js`).
✅ Verification: `cd backend && pnpm test` passes.
